 May in Central Park

One can almost feel the firm stalks of the tulips that front this glimpse of a park come to life. A lone carriage rider centers a scene that is pastoral despite its Manhattan location. Multitudinous shades of green, pastel flowers and eye-catching patches of dark and light render an image that is vibrant, practically in motion. Whether a quiet scene from the nineteenth century or a respite in the park today, it is a reminder that peace always exists somewhere in the city.
